The Nature of Existence
Friday 18 June

Roger Nygard’s compelling The Nature of Existence (opening today at the Quad Cinemas in New York, with a wider rollout throughout the summer) tackles life, the universe, and everything as the filmmaker talks to clergy, scientists, street preachers, and atheists about why we’re here. As Nygard told QueerSighted this week, “Just after 9/11, when our whole country was forced to face our mortality — on television where everything is real — for about a week until we could brush it under our awareness again, I started interrogating my friends about, what is the point of everything?” He took the project to a much broader canvas, and the result is a provocative film that’s guaranteed to stimulate some interesting conversations.
