Looking at Humanity: “The Nature of Existence”
July 9, 2010

Director Roger Nygard takes a look at how we live today by traveling the world and speaking with spiritual leaders, scientists, scholars, artists, pizza chefs and men on the street to gain a look at religion, philosophies and belief systems. The film is intelligent, entertaining and thought provoking. Some of the questions dealt with include why we exist, why are we here, how we were created and more.

The director narrates the film and we watch him ask people about things such as God, what happens after we die, masturbation, and so on. He lets us know that there are no secrets and he gives us answers in a way that will keep you thinking. There is a lot of information here and you have to be ready to take it all in. There is plenty of entertainment here as well—consider Christian Wrestlers, California Hippie Chicks, a curse spewing, gender non-specific guru named Aha, a bright little girl who is destine to start her own religion and Richard Dawkins who, like so many others here, is only on screen for a short time but you will not forget.

Nygard is a tour guide and a tourist and his approach to the questions is amazing. You might think that a film on this topic would be dry but it is far from that.
