  1. Cubie World says:

A monk asked Joshu, “does a dog have the Buddha Nature?”

Kind of the same question, given a good translation program.

I have the definitive answer that I have written on the margins on my Disquisitionae, but which unfortunately I don’t have the time to write out here.

But a hint. Try looking at the hidden assumption in both questions…there is one after all. Now stand things on their head.

Do animals have souls? No, the animals do not have souls, because we humans and the animals are the souls in the physical body. We physical beings are do not have souls, because we are the souls!!!

  3. Robert says:

There’s no reason to believe anyone or anything has a “soul”.

  4. Jeff says:

That’s like asking if invisible pink unicorns have a grand unified theory.

  5. Terry says:

The soul is a religious concept designed to lure people into faith based religious cults. There is no soul in humans or dogs.

  6. Lantis says:

What is the difference between the eyes of a Buddha and the eyes of a tiger?

If you look into Buddha’s eyes, you can see he had returned home.

If you look into the eyes of a tiger, you can see he’d never left.
