Experiencing life, people, places etc. Feeling the emotions of each moment. Knowing that each day you awaken leaves the opportunity for anything to happen.

  13. Brett M. says:

For me personally- My wife. Red wine. Coffee. Music. The exertion from running or cycling. The thrill of learning new ideas and concepts, finding new challenges.

For us as a species- The fact that we can ask such a question! We are, as far as we know, the only species that ponders these questions and wonders what it all means. We are the only one that says “hey, we exist!” My cat no doubt enjoys her existence immensely, but lacks the capacity to wonder and contemplate that existence. It’s nice to have evolved brains big enough to reach this level of complexity that we can have such self-aware, self-reflective thoughts.

  14. Nancy M says:

The best thing about existing? Learning.

Love. And the fact that the everything came from zero!

  21. Norine says:

This is a question I have never considered before. What is the best thing about waking up each morning and getting out of bed? I can see, I can hear, I can think, I can question, I can touch, I can smell, I can taste as fully as I choose, I can know!

  22. Stephen says:

Love. It is one historical constant that has been acknowledged since long before the creation of any deity, religious institution, or law. Though many religions and individuals have laid claim to ownership of the origins of this great human factor, love existed and will continue to exist independently of them, though none of them could find credence without love.

  23. Albert says:

What is the best thing about existing? The best thing about existing is to change ourself to be a better person and a better soul. :) )

  24. Robert says:

    Music.

  25. Aaron says:

In the grander sense, existing is always preferable to not existing from one’s own personal perspective, though it is not necessarily better for others that we exist rather than not exist. Still, only a seriously defective mind in great need of treatment would prefer to cease existing entirely or to have never existed at all.

That said…my own subjective reason that I find the best about existing…learning. That, or women…either’s good.

  26. Jeff says:

Having the opportunity to learn something about how we got here.

  27. Trevor says:

To comprehend a deep sense of love, a connection with another human being, is the most important part of existing. Without love, I do not wish to exist.

  28. Papa Ron says:

I would say to experience beauty that is greater than you thought possible. To be overwhelmed by the magnifience of an experience.

We realise what we would miss by not existing and by so doing we appreciate how fortunate we are – even if our existence is not that pleasant.

  31. Dan says:

Enlightenment. Learning that my epidermis is not the boundary of my self, but instead that I am part of something greater. Connect with another person. Look at the stars and know that you are the universe’s way of knowing itself. Meditate and see that your thoughts are not the essence of the self. Become lost in an activity you enjoy.

Desire. Desire for knowledge is my latest favorite. I love to learn about science – especially cosmology (galaxies and stars). Another word for it is motivation. Anytime we are motivated, we are engaged, and usually rewarded. I think that’s why people say things like “chocolate”, or “sex”. If we always had whatever we wanted at the snap of a finger, life would be boring. To be engaged in something you enjoy is the best way to “be yourself.”

  44. Federico Pizarro says:

    definitely women and understanding
