'The God' (Allah in Arabic) the Almighty said:
"And I (Allah) created not the Jinns and mankind except to worship Me (Alone)."
(quran 51:56)
God clearly states that the only purpose for our existence is worship to him alone.
Worship: Literally, it signifies surrender or submission. Technically, it is an umbrella term, which refers to all acts of devotion including sayings, apparent and hidden deeds which bring about god's pleasure upon us.

God created the universe and everything in it. He created us from a drop of blood, and by his wisdom, this drop starts to have micro¯oscopic developments to create a fetus/human. He bestowed upon us all rewards (such as sight, hearing, parents…endless list), rewards that you may know of and many that you have no clue about. His gifts and rewards are granted to us from the beginning of our creation till our death.
So it is his full right to worship him alone and thank him for his gifts.
If interested in more elaborated concept about worship or reason of existence, I will be more than happy to shed light, just let me know.
Why can’t the answer be simple? People too often like make things harder than they need to be? Simple works, complexity can always breaks down to the simple things. Those who live simple lives are often far more happy then the rest of us. (Including me…)
“My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.”

you can’t make a movie about the nature of existence and leave out a very important resource (the vedanta)…..the link below is the english interpretation of the sanskrit upanishads. If you took the time to interview Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, you should certainly have taken the time to meet these guys (Swami Dayananda and Swami Paramarthananda)…..you might find your answers here. check out the section on talks and the audio links to the Intro to Vedanta. http://www.vedantavidyarthisangha.org/
now thats all good but in the off chance that a person is looking for the reason for existing and they cant bring themselves to believe in fairy tales what is the answer then??

I would LOVE for you to shed some more light on the subject.
Doesn’t it seem a bit weird to create humans just to have them praise and love you?
To enjoy life.
